Oh! Canada?

Eyes Wide Open
Every photo is a snapshot of what a photographer has chosen to capture – and more importantly, what the photographer has chosen to leave out. In our effort to look more closely at Canada during its (contentious) 150th year, we decided to look beyond the borders of the stories we tell with images. We collected photos from local Canadian artists and educators and provided picture frames and a buffet of colourful materials. Then we asked people to fill in the blanks – to imagine what exists beyond the border's edge. This installation opened our hearts and minds to the possibilities hinted at in the panel – a truly unique and memorable experience!
